A little about me

Hello, My name is Micah Southwick. I'm a 19 year old secondary education major at GCC. In my free time I coach high school football. I've played football my whole life so after I left college football I decided to go back to my high school and help coach. So far I have really enjoyed coaching. It keeps me involved  with sports. Every athlete knows the feeling of hanging up the cleats for the last time. For some that is something that is very hard to do, for others it's easy. I struggled to accept the fact that my body could not take another concussion so having the cleats up was hard.

Coaching keeps my passion for football alive. I love spreading my knowledge to the next group of kids wanting to play college sports. Whether that is teaching them new workouts or talking about my college football experiences. Coaching also gives me an opportunity to learn more about football from my mentor. My head coach in high school is now my boss. So learning from him and all the knowledge he has of the game has helped me a ton. Coaching high school sports also gives  the chance to look forward to my career. As I am getting into high school teaching I get a little glimpse of what that will look like.

To wrap this up in my free time I do what I love to do. Help young men learn and grow in the game of football. I continue to grow my knowledge and prepare for my future. Everyday getting the opportunity to still be around football. While setting up my future in coaching and teaching.
