Blog #4 Impact teachers have on their students

When thinking of your days in school. The biggest things you remember are your friends and your teachers. A good teacher can push you make you want to purse higher education. While a bad teacher can do the opposite. Teachers have a huge impact day to day. Seeing these student 6 hours a day leaves a big impact. I can still remember my fourth grade teacher and how amazing she was. How poise she came in everyday. She never made it look like she was having a bad day. With a smile on her face she taught us. These teachers become role models. Kids look up to them, how they act, what they wear and the way they talk. Outside of your parents teacher have a huge impact on ones life.

Teacher Impact By the Numbers - What the Research Says

While I was in high school a teacher by the name Jenna Serafini had a huge impact on my high school life. By making me get involved with the school outside of the sports I played. I owe her a lot. She pushed me in class to strive for a better grade. She told me I could attend college and Im very grateful. I tell you this because that's what a teacher can do.  Students look for guidance someone to look up to. These influences can either be positive or negative. How a bad teacher who takes for every to get stuff done, rubs off on the student vs the teacher who is always on top of stuff. Rubs off on the students to get their stuff done.

Teachers spending the time to build relationship instead of just assigning work helps these students feel comfortable. these teachers who spend the time attending their students sporting events or choir concerts. These student notice that and respond positive. The little stuff matters. You can ask any student if they like or dislike a teacher and why. They will be super honest with you, Giving you reason why thy do or do not. Most of the time it's about if the teachers asks about their life. Their sport or how other classes are going. Teacher motive and push students to be great.

  1. Thank you for your post! Your teacher sounds like she is an incredible person. The thing that I have always found amazing about teachers is that oftentimes, they don't actually seem to realize the kind of impact that they can have. I have many friends who are teachers, and they are some of the most humble, kind people that I know. It is important that we share our appreciation with them, because one simple "thank you" can make their day!

  2. Hi Micah! I don't think that a lot of parents realize how big of a thank you they owe to teachers. Teachers are often downplayed by parents and saw as "just another person." Your post helps students and parents come to the realization that teachers are able to shape an individuals life. I have had many coaches and teachers that I owe the world to for pushing me to become the kind of student with the kind of goals I have today. Having great teachers in the world is a necessity for out future generations! Thank you for sharing!
