How technology is changing the school system

When thinking of how much education has been changed in the recent years. I take a look at this year. In college all of my work is on a computer. My assignments, my email, and all the information I might need is a click away. No longer are student sussing text books but using google and online browsers. As technology grows education grows and vice versa.

Technology us pushing education daily. Providing student with more opportunities to learn and grow their knowledge is creating better students. When talking about the role technology plays in education eLearning Industry states, It enhances accessibility and inclusivity through online learning platforms and virtual classrooms, providing personalized experiences that cater to individual needs and learning styles (Joshi) Catering to individual needs is a key to success in education. This is something teachers and school have been trying to improve. New websites that helps student with their needs like learning a new language, reading, typing and math all on one device. Instead of multiple books and packets its a single computer. Now technology also has some negatives like security and privacy concerns. This makes schools nervous to switch to computers full time. eLearning Industry mention, "With the use of educational technology comes the responsibility of safeguarding student privacy and ensuring secure online environments. Addressing privacy concerns and protecting against cyber threats is crucial for maintaining the integrity and safety of online learning platforms"(Joshi) This is fixed with lock down browsers and admin checks that keep student off bad websites and tracks what they see. Making sure students are not being bullied online and can use the web for school purposes only.Students are Better Off without a Laptop in the Classroom - Scientific American

Technology creates opportunities that schools need to take advantage of. Giving every student the chance to better their education by using computers should be the number one priority. These devices push students to grow their knowledge. Looking up information is the same thing as looking it up on a text book. Not having to spend money on new books saves money. Student not having to carry books but one laptop helps keep them organized.

  1. It is interesting to think of how much technology has been implemented into education these days. Even in early elementary school in the middle to near end of the 2000s, I remember much more textbook usage compared to nowadays. We used to have a specific computer room where everyone went to do activities on a computer or learn something online. Nowadays, everyone has a smartphone at the touch of their hands and likely their own laptop in their backpack. Technology in education definitely expands one's opportunity to learn and is something schools and teachers can use as an advantage in their lesson planning. The idea that learning online caters to certain learning styles that better help students with particular learning abilities is very true. It is honestly mind-blowing to think of the impact technology has had on education especially since COVID during a time period where we were all forced to use technology to keep in touch.

  2. Your four new entries look pretty good, Micah. Your writing flows pretty well overall, and you have some interesting topics, but you have room to develop your content further. You feel a bit rushed and brief at times, which makes it harder for your audience to relate. Don't forget about the concepts of rhetoric to connect to your audience and keep them engaged. Pretty good visual appeal with images. Keep at it! Don't forget to number your entries!

  3. Technology has changed how we learn in college, with everything on the computer now – assignments, emails, and info we need. It's easier than using textbooks; Google and online tools are our go-to. Technology helps us learn in a different way, giving us personalized ways to study. But there are worries about privacy and safety online. Schools need to find ways to protect us while still using tech to make learning easier and cheaper.
