    The Hashtag has taken over social media. From athletes to celebrities, everyone is using hostages in their social media posts. Social media accounts like ESPN. Another app that uses hostages is Tik Tok. Adding a hashtag on a post helps one's account get more views. When posting on Tik Tok I have added #pyf. This hashtag helps my post get more views. Different social media apps have used hashtags to do different things. An article from learn hub talks about twitter and how they have used the hashtag. "Twitter adopted the use of hashtags into its code, turning the concept of hashtag marketing into a viable marketing tactic."(Razo). By using a hashtag on a post twitter can add the post to the target audience. Brands can get their media out to the right people. This has helped brands sell products.

Hashtags are also used by people with power. First Lady Michelle Obama has used her voice to help with some issues going on in the world. From Learn hub its shows,  Former first lady Michelle Obama posted a tweet with this hashtag to draw international attention to the story. The movement offered a $300,000 cash reward to anyone who could help locate or rescue the kidnapped girls. Many celebrities supported the movement and uploaded photos of themselves with the hashtag #BringBackOurGirls."(Razo). Hashtags bring people together, helping spread awareness for global issues going on. This is one of many events that have been spread by using a hashtag. 

One of the biggest hashtags to hit social media was #icebucketchallenge. This helped spread awareness for ALS. Everyone was doing the ice bucket challenge. My siblings and i Did the ice bucket challenge. People like lebron james, oprah winfrey, kobe bryant, were making videos with the hashtag. Learn hub gives great information about the trend, It was an activity when a participant should have dumped a bucket of ice water over his or her head, either by another person or self-administered. Then, the person had to nominate others to do the same within 24 hours and upload a video or donate to the ALS Association”(Razo) These trends have taken over social media. Thanks to hashtags people can spread awareness for issues around the world.
